COMBINE FUNCTION AND BEAUTY Dental Crowns

Chipped, broken, or misshapen teeth can be painful and embarrassing, but a crown can quickly and effectively fix the issues. Dental crowns, also known as “caps”, are placed over your prepared natural tooth or a dental implant abutment. They are also used to support the prosthetic teeth in dental bridges, making them one of the most versatile tools in the dentist’s arsenal. At Forever Smiles Family Dental, we offer crowns made of zirconia or porcelain. With proper care, both materials last several years, but our doctors will recommend the best type for your particular needs.

Crowns take two appointments to place. At the first visit, the tooth to be capped will be prepared to create the proper platform for the crown. Dr. Nguyen will then take impressions, which will be used to create a custom crown. A temporary crown is placed while you wait for your permanent one to be manufactured—usually about two weeks.

When the crown is complete, you’ll come in for your second appointment, where the permanent crown is placed. Dr. Lanny Nguyen will make any final adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit, and then secure the crown with special dental adhesive. With proper care, your new crown can last for the next 15 years!

Porcelain Veneers

If your teeth are chipped and damaged, oddly spaced and misshapen, or even stained and discolored, porcelain veneers are an excellent solution to restore your smile. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are placed over your natural teeth to cover any imperfections.

Placement requires the removal of a very thin layer of enamel from the tooth or teeth – just enough to create room for the thin shell as well as a suitable platform for the veneer to attach. Veneers are a permanent cosmetic dental solution that can last decades with proper care.
